Tell Governor Blagojevich to End Racial Profiling:

ISP Consent Searches

Last week, the Chicago Tribune reported on new data gathered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, and the findings were disturbing. Based on an analysis by the ACLU of Illinois, it is clear that during 2007, Illinois State Police Troopers asked minority drivers for permission to search three times as often as white drivers. As a result, minority drivers often are subject to embarrassing, humiliating roadside searches in plain view of other drivers.

With the stroke of his pen, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich can strike a major blow against racial profiling in Illinois.
